Many of us have become accustomed to turn off idle flowing water and burning light in time. However, there are still a few items that should be checked in your house and thus significantly reduce the cost of communal. And who does not want to pay bills not for 12, but for 11 months a year?

We chose the most unobvious and effective ways that will help not to burn money in vain.

1. Put the bottle in the drain tank

Fill a 1.5 liter bottle with water, weight it with pebbles and place it in a tank. So the volume of the tank will decrease and, accordingly, the amount of drained water will decrease. As a result, a family of 3 people can save about 11 cubes of cold water per year.

2. Clean the vacuum cleaner bag often.

The more clogged up the dust collector and filter cleaner, the more electricity is spent on cleaning.

3. Use utensils from easily heated materials.

Cookware made of glass, copper and aluminum heats up faster and, accordingly, requires less energy for cooking. However, if you are not able to abandon your favorite cast-iron skillet, then do not forget to turn off the stove for 10-15 minutes earlier, since the desired temperature will be maintained.

4. Rearrange the refrigerator

Ideally, a refrigerator is recommended to be installed at the coldest wall, away from radiators and a stove. You also need to leave a space between the wall and the refrigerator. In such conditions, it will spend less energy on cooling.

5. Put the lever mixer

The mixer with one handle allows you to quickly adjust the temperature of the water, which means that it will flow less in vain.

6. Boil water in the kettle for 1 time.

If you do not boil a full kettle, but, say, water for 1-2 cups, then much less energy will be spent, and you will get hot tea more quickly. The same applies to cooking: do not pour water "with a reserve." So after cooking do not have to pour out a lot of excess water, and cooking will take less time.

7. Wash in cold water

Daily washing is best done at low temperatures; still, most of the dirt is well washed. And it is spent on heating the water up to 30 ° С with 4 times less energy than up to 60 ° С. In addition, it is worth reducing the number of revolutions during the spin cycle to 600-800. So you will not only save energy, but also preserve the appearance of fabrics.

8. Check your plumbing

To check if the toilet is leaking, you can add a stain to the flush tank. Beet juice or blue (methylene blue) will do - traces of them are easily removed with conventional toilet bowl cleaners. If after 30-40 minutes you notice that the toilet is stained red or blue, then it is leaking. So, it is necessary to call the plumber and not spend money on the extra 18 cubic meters of water per year.

9. Use trash can

More precisely, do not use the toilet as a garbage can and do not throw trash in it that is difficult to wash off.

10. Wipe the bulbs

Dusty light shines worse by 10-15%. Instead of turning on additional lamps in the evenings, you can regularly wipe the ceiling and the light bulbs themselves from dust.

11. Descale electrical appliances.

Scum on the heating elements of the kettle, washing machine and dishwasher reduces thermal conductivity, which means that appliances begin to consume more energy to heat the water to a standard temperature.

12. Discard extensions

Any extension leads create greater resistance in the network, which increases the consumption of electricity. Therefore, try to connect electrical appliances directly to the outlet wherever possible.

13. Use a cup while brushing your teeth.

Many have already got into the habit of turning off the tap while brushing their teeth or shaving. However, it will be even more economical to pour water into a glass than to collect it in your palm. It will be quite enough to rinse your mouth from toothpaste.
